We love Wetherill Park as much as you do

Wetherill Park was named for a business owner who donated 21 acres (85,000 m2) of his property to the state as a park. The offer was accepted and the park was given his name. North of the current school site, early settlers built their homes.

With the start of the Prospect Reservoir Waterworks, a local shopkeeper, Samuel Booth, gave a portion of his property for a school. The school was named ‘Macquarie Park,’ and it was located at Victoria and Daniel Streets, Wetheril Park, on the corner of Victoria Street and Daniel Street. It began operations in May 1918.

In 1986, the school was moved to Lily Street and renamed William Stimson Public School in honor of the city’s first mayor, in memory of him.

Landmarks we find ourselves enjoying in Wetherill Park include, Stockland Wetherill Park Shopping Centre, Hoyts Cinema and Bowlarama.
