What is a Level 2 Electrician?
In Australia, electricians must complete specialized education and certification to perform on a broad range of electrical jobs. As a result, electricians in Australia should have an ASP (Accredited & Authorised Service Provider) certificate to work as certified electricians on various electrical activities. The electricity supply Act of 1995 allows for the granting of ASP certificates by Ausgrid.
Level 1 ASP Electricians
A Level 1 ASP Electrician is someone who has completed electrical apprenticeship training and has attained the minimum competency standards for an electrician. A Level 1 ASP Electrician may work with minimal supervision, and may be required to supervise other less qualified workers. Level 1 ASPs are responsible for their own safety and that of others working on-site or near them.
Level 2 ASP Electricians
Electricians who have passed Level 2 certification can work on both underground and overhead live electrical systems. Carrying out work on the electrical supply network necessitates a high level of knowledge about safety and specialized skills, thus level 2 electricians may only perform electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance on this network.
